Hello Daniel,
It is necessary to have the right bulb for your aquarium, and freshwater aquariums should have daylight bulbs with the Kelvin temperature of 4500°K-5000°K.

If you have a fish only freshwater aquarium, then you should use a normal aquarium bulb that produces a mild red, warm color.
