I’m looking for information on acrylic tanks, their advantages and disadvantages in comparison to glass aquariums. Is there any difference regarding design, equipment requirements such as different heaters, hood, light fixture, warranty, or even filters, air pumps?
Sorry to give you all very basic questions, but I have just seen one acrylic tank in the shop today. Since the shop assistant was very busy, I wasn’t able to ask him question which I’m lying here.
What I’ve heard from my friends who do fishkeeping is that there isn’t any significant difference between acrylic and glass tanks. Moreover, they told me that glass aquarium can be of larger capacity than acrylic. In addition, acrylic tanks are liable for scratches, etc.
I would like to use the tank for freshwater fish only. Rocks, plants, caves, and equipment are bought and are in use already in a glass aquarium.
Thanks you for comments and suggestion! Let me know any information which is considered to be helpful. I am looking forward to hear any.

hello Kirby!
by using acrylic tank your tank can be of any shape. moreover they can be used as wall-mounted aquariums too since they’re easy to install in a such way. but am not sure if it’s good investment because it is much more expensive than glass tanks. another disadvantage? i have heard that glass aquariums carry water weight much better than acrylic tanks do.

When I went looking for acrylic tanks I found that there is not much of an opening on top. The tank I looked at was about 40 gallons and it only had two openings at the top that measured 5 inches wide by 16 inches long. It didn't seem like enough space to clean or maintain the aquarium. Also I didn't see how I could get my larger decorations in there.
