Is there any difference regarding design, equipment requirements such as different heaters, hood, light fixture, warranty, or even filters, air pumps? Sorry to give you all very basic questions, but I have just seen one acrylic tank in the shop today. Since the shop assistant was very busy, I wasn’t able to ask him question which I’m lying here. What I’ve heard from my friends who do fishkeeping is that there isn’t any significant difference between acrylic and glass tanks. Moreover, they told me that glass aquarium can be of larger capacity than acrylic. In addition, acrylic tanks are liable for scratches, etc. I would like to use the tank for freshwater fish only. The tank I looked at was about 40 gallons and it only had two openings at the top that measured 5 inches wide by 16 inches long. It didn't seem like enough space to clean or maintain the aquarium.
