I've found more aquarium fish in these streams than anything else. I've caught convicts, plecos, mollies, guppies, five star generals and two of the biggest comets I've ever seen. No comet I've ever raised has gotten as big as those two. They were almost a foot long. I looked them up in a book and apparently their maximum length is about 8 inches. Anyway, my point is that I know for a fact that those fish are all not native to Hawaii. It's kind of upsetting to see that people just throw out their fish with no reguard for the affects these pet have on the environment. meliss_cole 2008-05-08 Answer no. 1 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=aquarium-fish-in-streams-and-rivers#2 When I was a child I used to have great fun collecting stickleback fish and trying to raise them.Unfortunately these are now a protected species,as are many in the english rivers.Alot of the population decline has to be put down to pollution from our modern world, but seems so many people will miss out on nature due to mans so called progress mickey 2008-05-12 Answer no. 2 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=aquarium-fish-in-streams-and-rivers#3 Yes many of Hawaii's native freshwater fish are endangered or extinct. There are almost none left. They just can't compete with the stronger species. meliss_cole 2008-05-13
