I am new to the fish world. And the forum world actually. I started with a Betta and love him so my BF got me a 20 gal setup for Christmas. Right now I have it all set up and ready for fish. I just picked up 2 baby Emerald Cory's. I noticed when we got home that one of them is missing an eye! Poor little guy. I guess I will be more careful before leaving the pet store from now on. If anyone reads this soon after I post it.......how long should I leave my new fish acclimating in the bag before I open it? Thanks all and Happy Holidays from Maine! I normally float the bags for 20n mins before slowly mixing the water and then add the fish to the tank after 40 mins mickey 2009-12-27 Answer no. 2 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=hello-to-all#3 I usually float them for 15 minutes and slowly mix the water and then leave floating for 5 more minutes and finally put them in the tank. luec caayton 2010-01-11 Answer no. 3 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=hello-to-all#4 I agree with Luec Cayton. Do the same thing .. lionelrebeiro 2010-03-02 Answer no. 4 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=hello-to-all#5 That is far too quick to add the fish to the tank and will result in either pH shock or give the fish stress. It can actually take a fish weeks to fully acclimatise to a tank so always keep a close eye on them foe the first couple of weeks to make sure they have settled o.k. mickey 2010-03-03
