I just purchased a used 55 gallon tank complete with filter, pump, lights, heater, gravel, some decorations and something called a bubble rock. I have no idea how all this goes together yet. I plan to stop by a pet store for some help. But would love any suggestions as to what type and number of fish would work well together.
I do have 1 small (3 inch) catfish in my 5 gal tank that I intend to move to the larger tank once it is set up and going.
Thanks in advance.

Hello ,
Use this http://www.aqua-fish.net/index.php?cur_lang=2&count=no&secured=&section=51 for help about how many fish are suitable for your tank.
I’d recommend you buying the Glass bloodfish (http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?what=fish&cur_lang=2&id=190). They do well in shoals, so 30-40 of them will look terrific .
The Black Skirt Tetra (http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?cur_lang=2&what=article&id=70) is also a great fish. Something like 20-30 of these specimens would fit your tank perfectly.
If your tank is tall enough, you should consider Angelfish too (http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?what=fish&cur_lang=2&id=19) . If buying this species, buy 5-6 fish.
Or are you looking for another kind of fish? These above are peaceful and easy-to-keep.

Hi,
I would keep plecos only . They are perfect and interesting to watch. If kept fine, they will breed and you will enjoy them a lot .
I have 1 tank occupied with plecos only (Bristle-nose species).
