Hi G!
You have to prepare a tank for angelfish and in order to prepare one, you will require 40-55 gallon tank. The water in the tank should be soft and well filtered at a temperature of 78° with the help of a heater. Decorate your tank heavily with artificial or live plants along with platys (hardy fish) and after approximately 10-12 weeks you can bring in angelfish in your aquarium.

minimum depth of any tank being used for angelfish should be at least 18 inches

That's nearly 46 cm. I'd like to say that "clean" 46+ cm are needed, don't count substrate's depth as this may lower the total depth by even 10cm.
