Am gonna start a new freshwater corner fish tank in my room soon. I’m tired of ordinary tanks which sit on stands and want something new and unique . I’ve seen some products in shops already, but prices are questionable. I’m not willing to spend 3x more than I could spend if I did the whole tank including filtration, lighting, heater, etc myself. I would like you to gimme some basic suggestions about potential problems if any. I wanna use 15cm of gravel. Elliptical lines; dimensions: 70cm depth, 80cm width. The aquarium stand will be 1m tall. Thanks for advice. Mathew original post: April 10, 2007, 4:34 pm anonymous 2008-05-02 Answer no. 1 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=corner-fish-tank#2 Hi Mathew! I own the corner aquarium for years , so it’s great to find someone else who’s addicted to this tank type. Basically you’ll need a powerful stand firstly. Metal aquarium stand is perfect for such tank. Beware of further clearing behind both, the tank and the stand. You should ensure enough space between tank’s lowest levels and your floor. Generally, speaking, you’ll need unusual lighting too. I bought 1x80cm, 1x45cm and 1x30cm bulbs for my tank. Since I did it myself too, I created the lighting fixture from wood. Keep in mind that water may cause wood budding if it gets wet. You could do the fixture from metal, so that you’ll avoid wood troubles. Wood is cheap on the other hand. Very important aspect is if you’re going to keep it open or closed. I strongly recommend you to keep it open all the time. Just create some woody structure which will disallow fish to jump out of the tank . Another potential problem is electricity and cables. All of them should be hidden behind the tank. Equipment such as filtration, heater, aeration, etc. can be found in shops easily. Good luck . I've never had a corner because my house does not allow for one. But I've always admired them whenever I saw one. meliss_cole 2008-05-11 Answer no. 3 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=corner-fish-tank#4 Soon I will be moving into a new flat. Whey I told my girlfriend that we could have 4 corner aquarium there, she was looking at me as I was brainsick . No way she said. But anyway, ordinary aquariums are more accessible than corner tanks in my opinion. Say that you have aquarium in the centre of the room; you can access it from anywhere. Corner tanks don't offer such advantage. Just my opinion... jan 2008-05-14 Answer no. 4 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=corner-fish-tank#5 I must admit I am not a great fan of corner tanks, thats just my personal opinion.Somehow they just don't look right to me. mickey 2008-05-14
