Old specimens are not resistant against various diseases as much as juveniles are. If he/she is about 4+ years old, it’s normal that they get sick. Additionally, bristlenoses can get sick if they eat other dead fish. For example, if there was a dead tetra or other fish in the tank, then your catfish could get infected from it.
