Mollies, guppies and neon tetras really appeal to me do you think this is a good mix? will the tetras nip the guppies’ fins? What pH should i have the water? basically i don’t know much thankx don’t worry you don’t have to answer every question! feel free to answer just one. lol redcow55 original post: May 7, 2007, 7:50 am redcow55 2008-05-03 Answer no. 1 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=what-fish-go-together-well-#2 Hello redcow !!! Tetras won’t nip others’ fins. OK, so start from beginning. You’ll need 100 litres tank at least. Generally you won’t have 100 litres of water there; just about 80-85. Gravel, centimeters from top, decoration. These things cause you will be able to use 85 litres max. Start with Guppies for sure. Mollies are great addition as well. Neon tetras are good for beginners too. Buy 5 Guppies (you will have more of them soonLaugh), about 4-5 Mollies and at least 15 Neon tetras. Neons do well in shoals. You’ll see. pH and water hardness. Try to keep it as stable as possible. pH level should vary between 6-8 and water hardness shouldn’t be more than 24° if you won’t keep African cichlidsSmile. Buy aquarium test kits in order to measure the water quality. Kits aren’t expensive too much. But I recommend you to start with plants first. And don’t forget to check my fish guide Basic aquarium help. Beginner help and information. : Fish Tank: how-to in forums. Let me know your other questions please, I will gladly help u . Good luck!!! Peter PS: Guppies breed like rabbits . anonymous 2008-05-03 Answer no. 2 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=what-fish-go-together-well-#3 but will the tank be over crowded if i get that many fish in 100L? thankx for your help. Also do loaches get on well with those other fish i mentioned? do you think it’s good to have one to clean-up the substrate a bit? thankx again lol redcow55 anonymous 2008-05-03 Answer no. 3 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=what-fish-go-together-well-#4 First, Peter mentioned 100+ L tank. So it means you could buy a 150 L, 200 L or even larger tank. Anyhow it might look crazy, I’d agree on what Peter is right about size and number of fishes. It is because Neon Tetras do well in shoals and they’re quite small. Guppies won’t take too much space. Only Mollies require more space... This is true. Maybe 150 Litres would be perfect for this company . RE loaches. I keep Yoyo loach and they are perfect addition to every tank I must say! But there is a little problem about them; They will probably eat fry if fry visit lower parts of your tank. But it is still possible to keep them together. Just buy some floating plants (Pistia stratiotes, Phyllanthus fluitans, Lemna minor, Azolla caroliniana) and fry should be safe. I keep 2 Yoyo loaches in 42 L tank and they get along well. I was told that they’re enemies when they grow up, but I don’t agree. Yoyo loaches are perfect fish for solving the Ramshorn problem and they get along well with other bottom dwellers too (I keep them with Panda Cories which are 2x smaller + 3 Bristlenose Catfish). They don’t clean the substrate directly, but they’re outstanding fish. You should consider Bristlenose catfish too. They’re easy to breed and they’re very thankful + intelligent. jan 2008-05-03 Answer no. 4 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=what-fish-go-together-well-#5 hi thankx for your help i think i may keep a few less fish but still have all 3 together - say 3 guppies 3 mollies and 6 tetras! I also may go for a 100l or 96l tank - so the fish have enough space but Its not so expensive. Is this wise? thankyou both redcow55 anonymous 2008-05-03 Answer no. 5 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=what-fish-go-together-well-#6 I would definitely recommend more Tetras. 6 is too low. They will hide and will not swim in shoal, they even won’t get natural colours. I know what am talking about, my ex-gf had 5 neon tetras and it was terrible sight. Really buy more tetras. If you buy 100 L tank and will keep 3x Guppies, 3x Mollies and 10 Tetras it will be fine. I keep 20 Tetras in my 81 L tank and they’re happy. My tank is panoramatic, so they can swim along the entire length . They chase each other all the time. jan 2008-05-03 Answer no. 6 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=what-fish-go-together-well-#7 i jus got my tank... and i heard that there is fish that eat other fish.. and i dont wanna get those.. so which ones are BAD to put together?? thank you! tamara007 2008-05-03 Answer no. 7 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=what-fish-go-together-well-#8 Hi T, Just use the search function: https://www.aqua-fish.net/index.php?cur_lang=2&count=no&secured=&section=2.
