If the fish is spitting for more than 7 days, then I'd bet he's eating something. I fed my Bettas granules from Sera and also Sera Flakes Premium. Or try to give him some frozen food; blood worms should work . In addition, does the betta have bigger belly than usual? Or anything else what is unusual? jan 2008-06-04 Answer no. 2 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=betta-isn-t-eating#3 You are probably overfeeding him. When the fish gets hungry, he should eat! But if more than a week goes by and he still isn't eating, you should consider a medication like Maracyn II. ('Treats sick fish that will not eat'.) Aquarium Salt (DO NOT use table salt as this could kill your fish!) is a stress reducer that I'd recommend before starting on any antibiotic medicines like Maracyn II. If your fish's body is bloated, he is probably constipated. The most common treatment for this is fasting him for 4 days and then feeding part of a cooked mashed pea. If this doesn't work, 1/2 tsp. of Epsom Salts per gallon of water should do the trick. Don't worry, lots of bettas spit out their food, especially when they are in a new, stressful enviroment. Try a little Aquarium Salt and keep the water nice and warm (80 degrees Fahrenheit) and he should do fine! Best of luck to you and your fish! BettaLove<3 2013-01-15
