I've got alternanthere reineckii growing in my 24 tall 180 . It has gotten to the top of water level and surpased it five inches . All the info sites say it can be grown from seeds , but there's nothing on them about producing a flower in my tank. Can it be done ? I would like to propagate this way for my local clubs award program. Also can the flower pollinate itself or will i have to grow two . I was raised on a farm so i know some plants require an unrelated partener.

Hardly. Just like Pistia Stratoites; they reproduce by seeds and thus, flowers. But it is very rare in tanks. Actually, I grew such Pistias, I used ordinary incandescent light bulbs of 50W / 25x50 cm of water surface, and they shown flowers. However, ordinary neon bulbs designed for aquariums aren't good enough for Pistias. So my suggestion... Try different types of lighting.
