Depends on water changes and so on. In fact, I don't care about pH too much. Instead, I put some sea shells in there so they can get Calcium at any time. Also, did you know that some of them will eat human calcium pills? I've had some that do, some don't but the mess it leaves behind is why I stopped. Also I use coral gravel in the tanks, which adds some calcium and hardness to the water as well. Spinach and other calcium containing vegetables can be fed as well.
