I have both my tanks going now , my little 10 gallon tank is doing well with just 2 Mollies 2 Platy's and a Crown Tail Betta . My 55 gallon tank has just completed it's cycle and everything is doing well , I have even invested in a EcoBio-Stone , in there I have 5 Red-Eye Tetras , 2 Angel Fish and 2 Pictus Catfish just to start me off and get some life in the tank , it's also planted . I have a 18 inch bubble wand along the back of the tank slightly off center , then my filter (HOB) then another 2 inch bubble stone at the other end of the tank , they are moving the water but not too rapidly , but the surface water is covered in a single layer of bubbles , not like foam , if I feed the fish they all burst but within seconds they start to build back up . I have tried to scoop them out with a net , they all disappear as I do it , but as soon as I stop their back , I know I'm not supposed to but if I touch them with my finger they all disappear . The only place that is clear of bubbles is where the air-wand and air-stone bubbles break the surface and where the filter water comes out . My little tank doesn't have this "problem" , what can I try ? should I worry ? All my fish are looking happy and doing all the normal things . Thanks For Looking and Helping -David- David847 2009-06-30 Answer no. 1 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=too-many-bubbles-#2 have you a dial on your air pumps so that you can slow them down a bit, if not I would consider removing one of the airlines as the tank doesn't need them anyway mickey 2009-07-02 Answer no. 2 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=too-many-bubbles-#3 Thanks Again Mickey , I was thinking I needed aeration in the tank ? that's why I had it all set up the way I did , I've turned them down to just trickles of bubbles and my "problem" is solved and the fish seem to like it better as well , they are all spread about the tank more . Thanks -David- David847 2009-07-03 Answer no. 3 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=too-many-bubbles-#4 A lot of people think that the tank needs the air bubbles, the only way to keep oxygen levels up in the water is surface agitation, I do this by aiming the filter output towards the water sufrace, I have never run an airline in 30 years. mickey 2009-07-03
