Aquarium Forum http://forum.aqua-fish.net/ A forum devoted to aquarium fish, plants, techniques and fish keeping as a whole. en Large Community Fish<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- --> </script> http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=large-community-fish#1 Hi, I have a 300 gallon freshwater aquarium and just keep the basics: clown loaches (my favorite), angel fish, guarmis, tetras, etc. Problem is that the tank is boring because other than the clown loaches, most of the fish remain small. I want bigger fish but don't know how to transition to that without risking the existing ones, especially the loaches. I've been thinking about removing all my existing fish except the locahes, and then getting cichlids, but I know that they have different water needs than the loaches. So here are my questions: If I want to remain a community tank, what types of fish can I get that will be large enough to enjoy a 300 gallon tank? If I move my existing community fish to a different tank, what kind of fish should I get that will be in the 3-6" size rather than the small ones I have now. Heard lots of arguments about keeping loaches/cichlids....both for and against. Is there anything factual on this rather than a bunch of differing opinions? Thank you. scogdell 2009-07-18 Answer no. 1 http://forum.aqua-fish.net/?topic=large-community-fish#2 tbh i haven't kept clown loaches or angels, but if you search on the database for fish about the right size, you are bound to find something you could consider keeping. http://www.aqua-fish.net/index.php?cur_lang=2&count=no&secured=&section=2 just be sure to read up on them a bit more to double check things :) good luck weirdartist 2009-07-22
