I recently have tried to breed my beta fish - all the proper signs and behaviors are present, and there is a huge bubblenest in one corner of my aquarium, but how can I tell if there are eggs in the nest? I haven't been at home for short time periods, and they may have done the deed when I was not present.

The eggs should be visible to the naked eye, it could be they are just not ready yet to breed but it sounds like it won't be long if the male is building the nests, I would guess the female is holding out.
