Hello Anonymous, Here are several reasons why water gets cloudy: 1) Bad, poor, inappropriate filtration, 2) Newly set-up tank, 3) Driftwood (it will colour the water for ever), 4) Too much dirt in the substrate. i need help water in my tank is almost milky white , i change my water, clean filter, but from hour to hour water is more and more cloudy like there is some color added in :\|

how long has your filter been running what are you cleaning it with as Jan has posted are you cleaning the substrate is your tank overstocked if you test your water can you post the results to give us something to work on http://www.fishtankforum.co.uk

i clean filter on 3 week period(i have small tank whit sponge filter),in old tank water to keep bacterias in it i suspect on infusoria cause i crew up and feed fishes just after i change 30% of water in tank i saw on some Croatian forum that 1 guy turnoff the light and stop feeding fishes for a few days and is cool now parameters are fine,and i clean substrate cause my corydoras died and lot of food is sedimenting on sand my tank contains only 4 fishes left(i has viral disease)so my tank i not overstocked

turning off the lights may help, I normally feed the fish six days per week, one day without. Sorry to hear about your corydoras, try raking the sand before you do a water change, feed your fish before the water change as well, leave the tank for 20 mins and then change the water http://www.fishtankforum.co.uk
