Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could suggest any specific algae eater that would be friendly with my guppies and black skirt tetras. I currently have 2 female guppies and 2 black skirt tetras, I think 1 male and 1 female.
I am running into some issues with a gold algae eater and I think that I need to replace it with something more friendly with its tankmates as I do not want to give up my guppies and black skirt tetras.
I am looking into getting a snail, perhaps a ramshorn.
Any suggestions would be great!
Much appreciated.

I keep ramshorn snails and I used to keep apple snails as well, if your tank is mature you could always try the ottos as long as there is plenty of algae for them to eat

I would say ramshorn and apple snails are good. But if you want something else, you could try freshwater shrimps. They are small, breed not like freeks and if they breed, it could be easy to sell them. (but I do not think they are good as human food Wink so do not try to cook them) Laugh

the suggestions above are good but i wouldnt recommend getting a snail with a catfish as the liquid that snails produce when they slither on the aquarium. If a catfish sucks on that liquid then its body will become clogged.
