angelfish are peaceful. many african cichlids aren’t. you should check for chichlids’ temperament before you buy anything. which species would you like to mix with angelfish?

Hi, I'm new here. I was told that Angels are aggressive, but they haven't posed any problem in my tank. I bought a 120 gal. tank online and it came with 2 12 in. tiger oscars, 1 jack dempsey, and a red devil. We had to get rid of the red devil because she was keeping the jack dempsey cornered. When we got rid of her, we got 2 angels and they all seem to get along pretty well. The only fighting is between the 2 tiger oscars and between the green terrors we bought not too long ago. If you can get a cichild that has already lived with other peaceful/semi aggressive fish, it would probably be alright, but you would still need to watch the fish for a few days. Right now in my tank, I have 2 12 in. oscars, 1 5 in. albino oscar, 2 3 in. green terrors, 2 angels, 1 6 in. jack, 1 3 in. jack, and 2 bala sharks. The only problem is the fighting between the green terrors and the small jack (i just got him yesterday) has fought with the green terror a little. Other than that, they are all living pretty peacefully. You don't want fish that are too peaceful in with your angels. I tried that. I put a koi from our peaceful tank in my aggressive tank and the angels were the ones trying to kill it.

surely african cichlids require hard, alkaline water??

Don't think its wise to mix fish from different continents

Right. Angels don't fight, although if kept in very small aquariums they tend to be territorial much more.

Yes, I am very busy. So accept my apologies since I cannot visit this forum too much. But I'll do my best because I own this website Biggrin .
