i just introduced an oscar to my existing cichlid tank and the other fish seem to dislike him. two of them in particular, a green terror and a strawberry peacock, started to nip at his fins. now i have a nearly finless oscar that i would like to survive. currently he is in a collander that i have rigged to isolate him from the other fish. will he heal there? my only other option is to move him to my tropical tank(mostly tetras) what should i do??

Do not put him back to the cichlid tank. I don’t know why this happened, since I’ve seen many oscars in one aquarium living in peace.

Did you keep him with tetras previously? If tetras are too small, he might eat them.

RE fins: I don’t know if he can survive and get back to normal life. In my experience it’s always 50/50.
the developer of http://www.aqua-fish.net Cool

Yes, I am very busy. So accept my apologies since I cannot visit this forum too much. But I'll do my best because I own this website Biggrin .

the oscar is only 2 1/2 in. long so i dont know if he would eat the tetras but i just got the fish a few days ago. under the advice of my fish store im going to set up a "hospital tank" and hopefully he’ll recover there.
any further advice would be appreciated.
