scientific name- chromobotia macracanthus
common name- clown loach

Mainly found in Malaysia,Borneo,Sumatra.
Max adult size 16 inches
Diet-live foods,algae tablets,blanched vegetables
PH 6.5-7.0
Temp 25-30C (78-83f)
Never been bred in an aquarium
Clown Loaches are close to being nocturnal ,most active in the mornings and late at night.
These are frequently sold in the shops at a juvenile age where they are then placed in too small a tank
Min tank size 4 foot,when adult they require a min tank size 6'x2'x2'.
They are a schooling fish so will not be happy on their own.
Sandy substrate preferred,with hiding places,low lighting.
Excellent filtration required as these fish are not hardy and prone to many diseases.
These fish should not be kept by inexperienced aquarists.

I love clown loaches. They are my favorite fish ever. I love how they swim in little formations, playing their own version of leap frog. Or at least that's what it looks like.

Its just a shame that keepers dont have large enough tanks for them most of the time.

I think that many aquarists don't realize how active these fish are and how much room they need to grow.

i was goanna get one until i did my research, there just such a beautiful fish and one day i have to get one

lovely fish,have been known to uproot plants and unless the water quality is high I'm afraid they will catch anything going in the world of fish illness.

Yep. I see people with 30 gallon tanks all the time filled with Clown Loaches. So sad...
