Had my heater go out a few days ago. Since Wal-mart was the only place open I got a Tetra 30-60 gal in tank heater. It managed to 'heat' the tank to 57 degrees. I took it back and exchanged it. Today my fish are dead because this on 'heated' the tank to 55 degrees. Yes I did have the knob turned up all the way to max heat and had experimented with turning it up an down. This 'heater' is nothing but a flickering light. I suggest everyone avoid any Tetra products.

sorry to hear about your prob with the heaters,I am running the tetratec externals made by the same company and they are brilliant.
With heaters I always spend that bit extra and currently I am running a titanium heater which is accurate to 0.5 deg. It has never let me down plus it has an auto cut off if out of the water and all the controls are external on a seperate switch box.
