Heya Guys!

I’m looking for information about fish pond heaters. I keep 20 Koi carp in my garden pond. Winter is always bad for them, 2 or 3 of them die during winder season every year. I count on that it’s because of freezing cold. When it’s summer, they’re happy and live without any problem.

Am looking for info on heater types mostly.

Gery

Welcome Gery!

Nice to hear from someone who has fish pond instead of home tank only Wink . Since I come from Russia where we have pretty freezing winters I must use heaters in my pond. I don’t use any electric equipment because there are better solutions in my opinion. My heaters run on oil and are floating. It’s perfect because my Koi carps have enough oxygen and don’t feel like through summer.

Good luck!

Hi Gery!

I’m using submerged heater because it is capable to heat larger area than floating one. The only problem was electric cables which needed additional work in my garden. I didn’t want cables to be put on ground, so I had to dig a canal for them. Yeah, if you do it like I did you should use some cover for cables otherwise mouses could plug-in to your heater Laugh . You know, they can swallow any unsecured cable easily.

Yeah, my pond heater eats more energy than floating ones do. But my fish are happy through every winter Biggrin .
