I used to keep a tank as a teenager (mostly Guppies, then later Goldfish), but got away from it.
I recently inherited a 45 gal tank with a few fish (approx 5 year old fish), and am quite pleased so far, however my wife would like to add some more color to the tank. Here is the inventory and their length: 1- Tinfoil Barb 5" ; 2- Silver Dollars 4" ; 1- Plecostamus (sucker)5" ; and 2- Corys 2".
I have been told that Gouramis are nice, but I am concerned about initial size. How large should they be to introduce them to this tank? The large fish don't bother the bottom-feeding Corys, but I am concerned about a smaller fish hanging out closer to the mid-upper levels.
Any suggestions or other (more colorful) breeds?
