It sounds funny, but I guess somebody must have encountered the same problem. Basically, I have a freshwater aquarium and my hands are quite itchy after I do some aquarium related work, but I never encountered this problem previously, so am I getting it due to aquarium water.

It is quite a common problem. Your aquarium water might have excess amounts of dissolved organic material, parasite presence, or a stray electrical discharge. After doing any aquarium related work, just wash your hands thoroughly with a good disinfectant soap and get your tank water cleaned up as soon as you can.
