I am not sure if the lithobate is a chclid. When i bought him he was a lovely intense blue with yellow on the tips of the top fin. His colour changed and now it is pinky grey. How can I get it to go blue again?

I can only check the ph which is 7.4. I was told i need another male so one can be dominant over the other and that is what produces the bright blue colouring, What is your opinion? Thanks, Jane

If he becomes the dominant male that will work. If he becomes sub-dominant he will never color up. If you put a couple of females in the tank he might colorup, usually a3:1 ratio females to males. Something is stressing him to lose all color. CHeck water for ammonia/nitrite/nitrate and what other tankmates does he have. Another good site to visit is cichlid-forum.com lots of good information
