I just noticed this mark on one of my Dwarf Gourami. Apart from that he seems very happy and active. I was dosing Iron (Seachem Fe) a month ago. Could that have done it? My Iron did get a bit high (0.5ppm) but is now back down to where I understand it should be (0.2ppm).

My Ammonia and Nitrite are 0, Nitrate varies from 0 to 5.

When the Iron got too high there was also a rapid growth of a nearly black algae.

I have seen a couple of fish (a gold algae eater and a swordtail) try to bite the Gourami where this mark is, but other than that the inhabitants of my tank are peacefully coexisting. Of my two male Gourami, this one eats more of both flake and algae. He is also more active than my other male. He seems happy, but he has what looks like a burn on the side of him.

What is that? How old do you think it is? What may have caused it? What should I do to help him? (I am currently dosing some Stress Guard.)

Any help would be appreciated.
