i have never had much success growing plants. any tips or idea's would be helpful. i am currently redoing a 35 gallon tank for angels only. would like many plants for them. would be willing to start plants first for as long as it takes.(within reason)

The secret is to let the plants settle in before adding the fish, vallis looks great with Angels.. Use a good substrate and add liquid feeds until there are fish in the tank to produce the waste to feed the plants

I would add, that you should control the pH and choose plants that require the same contitions which you have in the tank.
We have angelfish too and we have vallisneria spiralis and gigantea and anubias nana in the tank. When you want plants, it is good to have high substrate too.
