I have a tank with two oscar cichlids in it. I've had some trouble keeping the water clear, but lately as it has cleared up my oscars have been gasping for air. There are also small white bugs floating around the top sticking to the sides of the tank. Ive read a little about small white bugs and it sounds like they could be a harmless result of overfeeding, but i dont know if theyre related to the oscars' gasping. I've lost one oscar already and have had to buy new water filters 3 or 4 times, and only with a brand new filter in have they stopped gasping. does anyone know what i can do?

to help you we need to know a few facts
what size is your tank?
what filtration are you using?
what are the water parameters after testing?
How much food are you feeding the fish?
It does sound like your filtration is not up to the job, It could be that a lot of gunk is being sucked into the filters preventing them from working properly but I cannot say for sure until I know more about yopur tank.

Umm. Sanberio you need an erator an erator gives air so stop buying filters because it makes me sad to hear any oscars die but my oscars are doing good with the erator around Biggrin
