Hello Everyone!

I just bought 2 female and 1 male guppy last night. My two females are already pregnant. (dark gravid spot/large belly) I'm looking forwards to having some fry in the future from these two beautiful gals. The one female, is obviously further along, as her belly is much larger than the other.
My Platy, i bought her last night as well. She is HUGE in the belly area, and her gravid spot is big and dark. (just giving some info so you can help with the questions i'll be asking below). Now, when i checked the platy's tank in the pet store, i seen 2 little babies swimming around, but there were also two other females in the tank..so, it's a guess as to who's babies they were.. Huh

Now, here are the questions. My Platy, since this morning, has been hanging out under the bubble wall and won't budge....she didn't even eat this morning...and i'm leaving tomorrow (friday) and won't be back until sunday. I'm just concerned about leaving her in the tank and she might deliver and eat the babies while i'm gone. I do have a few plastic plants in the tank, gravel, and a cave ornament.....where the babies could possibly hide out. But, i was mostly wondering if it would be too stressing for my platy to be put into a breeding tank for the 3 days? (it's the floating kind that has slots on the bottom for the fry to drop down into).
Oh, and before i forget, it's a 29 gallon tank.....only my platy and the 2 guppies are in it.

ANY suggestions would be a great help! and thank you in advance! Biggrin

Great move. The guppy prefers a hard water aquarium and can withstand levels of salinity up to 150% that of normal sea water, which has led to them being occasionally included in marine tropical community tanks, as well as in freshwater tropical tanks.

I personally don't like the plastic breeding tanks , as you posted they do stress the parent fish. Sometimes though as in your case it is probably the smart thing to do if you are going away
