Ok so i am going to set up a 55 gallon tank. i have had a 20 gal before, but when i set up the 20 gal i didnt know much if anything about tank cycling. i know amnonia is BAD and i know that nitrites and nitrates are better and nitrates can only be taken out with water changes. i plan on getting like a super deluxe test kit this time. but without fish in the tank does it cycle on its own? any in depth info on this would be great guys, thank you so much. there are two ways to cycle your tank.fishless or add a couple of hardy fish to cycle your filters. there is an article on this forum that explains it all and I'm sure Jan will post a link for you
