I have recently got some yellow tangs and have noticed that they eat fairly large amounts of food. Is it normal for tangs to eat excessively?

don’t you know Biggrin yellow tangs are also known as grazing fish and they require food more than any other fish.

Yellow tangs have basically small digestive systems and the food they eat is assimilated quickly, so they need to be fed quite frequently.

I don’t know if you guys know this or not, but I recently found out that yellow tangs eat algae. So, if you have excess algae in your tank, just get some yellow tangs and your tank will be clear in no time.

tangs need a constant food supply at all times so that they can nibble through the day.
Yes ,they will eat the algae in the tank but once this has disappeared a fresh supply of vegetable food is required. The easiest solution is to add a veggie clip which holds seaweed

This fish is an omnivore. You should feed them dried seaweed, algae, spinach, shrimps, worms and other meaty food so they have a balanced diet. There should be no problem with eating.
