just a quick question before I go out and buy some.Will apple snails be o.k. with the higher water temp of a discus tank i.e 28 degrees

Yes, they'll be OK. I kept them in such temperatures during last and last-but-one summer. They were reproducing too Biggrin .

Actually the cocoons need higher temperatures, otherwise the small snails will not get out of the cocoon. For example, if you have 25°C in the aquarium, but the air is 21°C, then there is a big chance that only 1-2% of small snails survive.

They sure do get huge though, I wouldn't want too many. I have one apple snail that is as large as a tangerine and the other one is only a little smaller. Also have two mystery snails that are about the size of a golf ball. They aren't great at cleaning algae, but even if they were, the mess that they add to the tank sorta takes away whatever cleaning job they do!
