Hello everyone on these forums!

I came here looking for help due to a problem with my (aprox.) 3 year old Red Tetras.

After dealing with a rather awful cheap filter, I became fed up and threw it out. But then found myself buying a Whisper Tetra filter! It worked amazingly; Got the water very clean and the fish seemed happy.. But after a while I noticed my two little Red Tetras swiming kind of akwerdly. It just started with one but then they both started doing it (By the way, my fish tank is 29 gal. with only two Red Tetras and one Pelco sucker fish.) They seemed to be wobbling from side to side in a tired way, occasionally being pulled into the current of the filter only slightly.. But it started happening more and more offen and now it's really starting to worry me.

It looks somewhat like the current of the filter is to strong and their constantly battling being pulled into it.

I think this is the case especialy because a while back I got a baby Angel Fish and as soon as I droped the little guy in he got stuck to the filter! After I turned it off he died about a week after Sad

Is it just because of their age? Their very healthy other then the wobbling! No ick or any diseases, I keep the water very clean.

They do tend to spar with eachother though.. But they've been doing it their whole lives and it's never effected their health.

Anyways, sorry that this has gotten so long.. But please, anyone who has any idea what I could do for them, your input would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you kindly

Adri

You mean red phantom tetra? And you have just two of them in one tank? Tetras are social fish and they need to be in a group of 10 or more to feel good, otherwise they can be more stressed and die soon. Do not look the 29 gallon tank somehow empty?
If it is the red phantom tetra, it should live up to 5 years so your fish are quite old. If you have the feeling that their weird swimming can be caused by the current, slow it down. It might be the proglem. You can do it with most of the filters, or plant some high plants in front of the filter, it will slow down the current too.

when you replaced the filter did you run the new one side by side with the old one for a couple of weeks, if not it means your tank will be going through a mini cycle and the water parameters will be way out.
If you have tested the water recently can you post the results.
