I have a female aqnd male. Her belly has been swollen and shrunk twicew already and I have only had them about 6 weeks. I have no idea what the eggs look like! What am I looking for? I have other fish in tank, and have been told that pictus parents will eat the eggs if they get hungry.Again, what do the eggs look like, and how do I protect them in 75 gal. tank with 2 angels, and a dinosaur bicher eel? catfish will normally hide their eggs,should be a nice bright orange if fertilised but if they are white they are either unfertilised or full of fungus.If you have angels in the tank they will treat the eggs as food if the parents haven't done so. Most paired fish will take a few attempts at raising fry before they stop eating eggs or manage to get them fertilised properly http://www.fishtankforum.co.uk

females tend to be larger and plumper than the males. I would be interested if your pair do breed as I have never heard of anyone being successful with these in an aquarium. http://www.fishtankforum.co.uk

pictus catfish should be kept in small groups not individually so spotting the males from the females should be quite easy, probably see the difference more as they mature. http://www.fishtankforum.co.uk
