I have a betta splenden that was temporarily keep with three cichlids, he lost most of his finnage. Now that the cichlids are gone he remains in my 150 gallon community tank. His fins have regrown to the size of a wild betta’s fins. Now I assume it is probably better for him to have the finnage of a natural betta, also he’s in great health and displays active betta behavior, but will his fins ever grow back to their former glory?

P.S. - The same thing has happened to my faintail goldfish, it is currently healthy and happy but will his fins ever return to what they were.

Definitely yes. Fins will grow to their previous glory again and again. However, it will take some time. I kept bettas, so it is my personal experience. It’s the same for every species; Guppies, Goldfish, Angelfish, Tetras, Cichlids, etc. ... Fins are nipped and then grow back again Biggrin .

But be careful for the next time, because if fish lose too much percentage of it’s fins, it will probably die.

Yes, I am very busy. So accept my apologies since I cannot visit this forum too much. But I'll do my best because I own this website Biggrin .

Thanks a lot, and your right, it is taking a long time. But as long as he’s happy, I’m happy.
