Hi all Biggrin ,

I’d like to know which species you would recommend me:

I’m about to start (not 100%-ly, maybe I will not do it) a new Malawi fish tank. Since I don’t have much experiences at Cichlids area, I’m asking you all for any good suggestions. At first, I need to know which fish are suitable. Don’t wanna aggressive ones.

Here are details:

1) 450 litres,
2) Peaceful + not very demanding,
3) Is it good to use fine gravel? White one? Is basalt usable?
4) Species which are generally and easily available in shops,
5) What about Plecos? Will they be welcome by Cichlids?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I hope someone will help me, so I will start it successfully Biggrin .

Bye

not too sure about which species are supposed to be peaceful ,all the ones I had in my Malawi setup were after each other all the time.Thew only way I could get round it was to overstock the tank and add loads of rock for hiding places.
I used coral sand in my set up ,it kept the PH at a nice 7.8 without having to use buffers.
